THE Provence Art & Wine Retreat is the most booked private excursion on the French Riviera for a day at the crossroads of contemporary art and organic wines of Provence. This private tour takes you to the Commandery of Peyrassol (organic AOP wines, 70+ monumental sculptures, Michelin-starred restaurant Chez Jeannette) and at Château Margüi (Organic Coteaux Varois, Châteauvert). This is the Private Tower No. W6 from the Onyx Tours by TranspOnyx range.
There Commandery of Peyrassol The vineyard in Flassans-sur-Issole is one of the oldest and most unique in Provence. Its history dates back to... 13th Century Knights Templar who were already cultivating vines there. Purchased in 2001 by art collector Philippe Austruy, it has been transformed into a unique place combining Certified organic PDO wines high quality, a permanent collection of 70+ monumental sculptures, a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant and a garden classified as Remarkable.
The gourmet restaurant At Jeannette's (Michelin-starred, on the Peyrassol estate) is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. This circuit is therefore designed from Thursday to Monday all year round — the five days when it is possible to combine tasting, sculptures and a gourmet meal in the same day.
Philippe Austruy is a French entrepreneur and art collector who acquired the Commanderie de Peyrassol in 2001 with the ambition of creating a unique place in Provence. His project: to combine winemaking excellence (conversion to organic farming, upgrading of the wines) and contemporary art (installation of a collection of monumental sculptures acquired from leading international artists). The result is one of the most original and inspiring places in the entire Var region.
The Peyrassol collection brings together 70+ works by internationally renowned artists: Bernar Venet (monumental steel sculptures), Jaume Plensa (translucent heads, human figures), Xavier Veilhan (colorful geometric animals), Joana Vasconcelos (monumental works by women), Jean-Michel Othoniel (golden spheres), as well as artists like Daniel Buren, Franz West, Tony Cragg. Each artwork is integrated into the vineyard landscape — between the vines, under the pine trees, along the edges of the paths.
The label Remarkable Garden The French Ministry of Culture awards this distinction to gardens and parks of exceptional quality. It recognizes the garden's artistic composition, the richness and diversity of its plants, the quality of its maintenance, and its historical or contemporary value. Peyrassol is one of the few vineyards to hold this label—a recognition of the estate's cultural and artistic dimension, beyond its winemaking excellence.
From €630 for a Standard Sedan (3 pax), €720 Business, €810 Minivan 7 seats, €900 8-seater minivan. Price per vehicle. Tasting of the 5 Peyrassol wines and access to the sculptures are included. The guided tour of the cellars (€20/person), the gourmet meal, and bottle purchases are at your own expense.
Drop-off included up to 15 km. Beyond that: hourly rate × return time × number of vehicles (rounded to 1/2 hour). Standard €70/h, Business €80/h, Van 7 €90/h, Van 8 €100/h.

Example — departure Cannes (~30 km, ~0.5h return), 1 Business Class + 1 Van 7: 70€×0.5h + 80€×0.5h = +75€. Automatic calculation, recalculation if vehicles change.
Both restaurants are located on the Peyrassol estate. At Jeannette's is the Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant — signature Provençal cuisine, precise presentation, organic wine pairings, a high-end experience. Lou's Bistro is the estate's more casual restaurant — quality bistro fare, a simpler atmosphere, and more affordable prices. Both are closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Please specify your preference in the notes.
THE Château Margüi Châteauvert is a discreet family estate run in organic farming, in the name AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence. Nestled between forest and garrigue, at an altitude that brings freshness and minerality to the wines, it embodies the preserved and authentic Var. Its rosés, whites and reds have a very different identity from the coastal Côtes de Provence — wilder, more intense, more exclusive.
L''AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence This appellation, located in the Var region, is less well-known than Côtes de Provence but increasingly recognized for its terroir-driven wines. Its vines grow on clay-limestone soils at a higher altitude (200–450 m), which imparts freshness, tension, and complexity. The grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Vermentino. Château Margüi is one of its finest representatives.
Absolutely. The stroll through the sculpture park is offered as free time—some visitors complete it in 45 minutes, others in 2 hours. If you prefer to spend more time enjoying a tasting or lunch, no problem. Art enriches the day without being a prerequisite—the wine, the gastronomy, and the Var landscape already make for a complete experience.
Spring (Apr–June) : budding vines, soft light, fewer tourists — ideal for a sculpture walk. Autumn (Sept–Oct) : grape harvest in Peyrassol, golden vines, festive atmosphere. Winter (Feb–Mar) Absolute calm, dormant vineyard, intimate tastings. Summer : hot for outdoor sculptures — mornings are best. This tour operates year-round (except for closures in January and December 25th/29th at Peyrassol).
Yes. This tour is ideal for cultural and gastronomic groups, Creative corporate seminars, management committees, art & wine incentive trips, themed birthdays. For groups of 10 or more, please specify the number of guests: we will confirm availability at Chez Jeannette (limited capacity for a Michelin-starred restaurant).
Yes. The Commandery of Peyrassol is in certified organic farming For several years now, the entire estate (230 hectares) has been cultivated without synthetic pesticides or herbicides. Philippe Austruy has made this a fundamental principle—consistent with the estate's overall approach (art, nature, wine). Tasting the five organic AOP wines reveals the impact of this viticulture on the wines' aromatic expression.
Yes, both estates have a shop. Peyrassol wines are distributed in France and internationally, but some rare cuvées are only available directly from the producer. Margüi wines are very rarely distributed outside the Var region. This is an opportunity to acquire exclusive bottles that are impossible to find in Paris. Our vehicles have spacious trunks for transport.
This is one of our most popular tours for creative professionals. Architects, designers, gallery owners, artists—the Peyrassol Collection offers a rare immersion into major works (Plensa, Veilhan, Venet, Othoniel) within an exceptional natural setting. We can arrange guided tours with information on the artworks or request a meeting with the estate's artistic director for professional groups.
Yes. Overtime rate: €70 (Standard), €80 (Business), €90 (Van 7), €100 (Van 8). Please plan this when booking.
