A multi-stop chauffeur itinerary is one booking, one vehicle and one driver who takes you through a sequence of pick-ups, drop-offs and waits in a single day. On the Côte d'Azur it works best when you give the driver a complete schedule in advance: addresses, times, passenger numbers and luggage. At TranspOnyx we price it at 2026 fixed rates per vehicle, either by route or by the hour, and confirm the figure before you travel. You can reach us on +33 6 10 30 71 84 or at transponyx.com.
The rest of this guide explains how a day like that is built, what it costs, which rules shape it in France, and where it tends to go wrong.
What a multi-stop itinerary actually is
The phrase covers more than one kind of day. The simplest version is an airport arrival that continues to a hotel, then to a lunch, then to a meeting. A second version is a collection of different people: one passenger from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), another from a hotel in Cannes, both delivered to a dinner in Monaco. A third is a sightseeing day, where the stops are places rather than wanderers.
What units them is that the vehicle stays with you. You are not re-booking at each leg, you are not waiting for a car to be found, and you are not repeating your destination to a new driver. The chauffeur holds the whole plan and adjusts it with you as the day moves.
That difference matters on this stretch of coast. The Riviera is long and narrow, squeezed between the sea and the hills, and most traffic funnels onto the same few roads. A day that looks short on a map can behave very differently at six in the evening in June.
Why France treats this as a pre-booked service
A VTC (private hire vehicle with driver) cannot be hailed in the street. According to the European Consumer Centre's guidance on taxis and chauffeur-driven cars, you identify one by the red sticker in the corner of the windscreens, and it carries no roof light or taximeter. Taxis can be flagged down or taken from ranks. A VTC works only on prior reservation.
Tea French ministry's overview of taxi and VTC regulation sets out the framework that applies to the whole sector. Its practical consequences for you are straightforward. A chauffeur cannot circle outside an arrivals hall hoping for a fare, so the itinerary has to exist before the car moves. In fact, a well-planned multi-stop day is not a luxury extra. It is how the service is meant to operate.
At the airport itself the rules are specific. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport's access conditions for transport professionals restrict the drop-off areas outside the terminals to private vehicles and govern where professionals may wait. This is why we monitor your flight on every airport transfer. If you land early or late, the pick-up time shifts with you instead of leaving the driver in the wrong place.
Building the day: the information a driver needs
The quality of a multi-stop day is decided before the car arrives. A chauffeur can only be as precise as the brief, and the briefs that work share a few features.
Start with the sequence and the fixed points. At 2:00 p.m. meeting in Sophia Antipolis, at 8:00 p.m. dinner reservation in Monaco: these anchor everything else, and the chauffeur works backwards from them. Flexible stops, such as a visit to a perfumery or a walk through Èze, fill the gaps.
Next, state who travels at each leg. If two people ride from the airport and a third joins in Cannes, the vehicle must follow the larger group from the moment of the first pick-up, and luggage must fit in each configuration. Our Standard Sedan and Business Sedan carry up to three passengers. The Van 7 pax and Van 8 pax suit groups, families and anyone traveling with golf bags or several large cases. If you are unsure which suits your party, our note on Mercedes V-Class seating and luggage shows how the layouts behave with real baggage.

Then give exact addresses, with the quirks. Many Riviera villas sit up private lanes, yacht berths have their own access protocols, and event venues use separate entrances for guests and vehicles. A driver who knows in advance that the gate code is needed, or that the pick-up is at a specific quay, saves you the ten minutes that otherwise vanish on arrival.
Finally, say how firm each time is. “Lunch ends around 3:00 p.m.” and “we must leave at 3:00 p.m.” are different instructions, and a good chauffeur will plan the next leg differently for each.
Journey times between the main stops
Distances on the Riviera are short. Times are not always so. The figures below are typical off-peak estimates for a private car, and we treat them as a starting point, not a promise.
| Leg | Approximate distance | Typical journey time |
|---|---|---|
| Nice NCE to Cannes | about 30 km | 30 to 45 minutes |
| Nice NCE to Antibes | about 20 km | 20 to 30 minutes |
| Nice NCE to Monaco | about 30 km | 40 to 60 minutes |
| Nice NCE to Menton | about 35 km | 45 to 65 minutes |
| Cannes to Monaco | about 60 km | 60 to 80 minutes |
| Nice NCE to Saint-Tropez | about 105 km | 1 hour 30 minutes upwards |
The Saint-Tropez leg deserves the strongest guarantee. The peninsula is served by a limited road network, and in high summer the final stretch can add substantial time. When Saint-Tropez forms part of a day, we usually advise treating it as the main event or as the final stop, not as a quick detour between two appointments.
The east of the coast is easier than it looks, because the motorway runs high above the towns, but the approach to Monaco tightens in the late afternoon. If you have a dinner there, we build in margin so that you arrive composed instead of rushed.
What a multi-stop day costs in 2026
There are two sensible ways to price a day with several stops, and the better one depends on how fixed the plan is.
The first is by route. Where your stops follow a clear path between two points, the fixed rate for that route is the foundation. Our 2026 fixed rates per vehicle for airport transfers from NCE are:
| Route from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport | 2026 fixed rate per vehicle |
|---|---|
| Antibes and Juan-les-Pins | €68 to €110 |
| Monaco and Monte Carlo | €90 to €140 |
| Cannes | €90 to €150 |
| Menton and Beausoleil | €108 to €158 |
| Isola 2000, Auron and Valberg | €240 to €350 |
| Saint-Tropez and Ramatuelle | €260 to €400 |
A Nice to Cannes chauffeur ride that does not start at the airport is priced separately, at €75 to €110 per journey. Each range reflects the vehicle category and the specifications of the pick-up. The full detail sits on our airport transfer pages.
The second way is by the hour, which follows days where timing is loose or the stops are many. Our provision is €60 to €90 per hour, and a tailored tour is €70 to €100 per hour. You will find the reasoning behind these bands in our guide to hourly chauffeur rates in Nice. For a day that is more about the destinations than the logistics, our private tours are priced per tour: €350 to €500 for a five-hour half day, and €630 to €900 for a nine-hour full day.
One point is worth stating plainly. Every rate is fixed, per vehicle, and confirmed at booking. There is no surge pricing. That matters in the weeks when demand spikes. The consumer center notes that VTC journeys commonly run at roughly €2 to €3.50 per kilometer, a pattern that leaves the final figure open to movement, whereas a fixed quote tells you the cost before the day begins.
Waiting time: the quiet variable
Waiting is where multi-stop days gain or lose money, and it is where clients most often misjudge. A driver waiting outside a restaurant for two hours is not working on another booking, so most providers either charge for that time or build it into an hourly rate.
Our terms are clear. We include 60 minutes of free waiting on every airport pick-up and 20 minutes at any other address. Beyond that, the by-the-hour structure takes over, which is why a day with long lunches or meetings is usually more economical on an hourly basis than as a series of separate fixed legs.
The airport figure of 60 minutes reflects practice as well as courtesy. According to the airport's own access conditions, vehicles are subject to strict rules on when and where they may wait, and penalties for idling outside the permitted windows can be severe. Flight monitoring protects you from that problem, and protects the driver's license too.
Three itineraries that work
Examples make this concrete. These are illustrations of how we would structure a day, not published packages, and prices depend on the vehicle and the final plan.
The arrival day with a meeting
A director lands at NCE at 11:20 from London, with one suitcase and a laptop bag. The driver is in the arrivals area with a name board, tracking the flight. The first leg runs to a hotel in Cannes, roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on the traffic on the coast road and motorway. After a change and a short rest, the car takes her to a 3:00 p.m. meeting, waits, and brings her back for dinner. This day is a good candidate for the airport fixed rate to Cannes, followed by hourly time for the afternoon.
The two-passenger collection
Two colleagues arrive on separate flights, forty minutes apart. The chauffeur meets the first, holds the car in the permitted professional zone, and meets the second when she lands. Because we monitor both flights, the sequence adjusts if either runs late. The pair then continue to Monaco together. The first passenger benefits from our free 60 minutes of airport waiting, so the second flight can be absorbed without additional charge as long as the gap stays inside that window.
The sightseeing day
A couple want Èze, Monaco and a late lunch in Menton, then a return to Nice. The route is compact, but the pace is the point. Here the hourly tour structure or a half-day tour is the right choice, because the driver's role is closer to a guide and the stops are discretionary. For a day that reaches further, towards Provence and its wine estates, Onyx Tours covers the planning.
Event weeks change everything
The Riviera's calendar reshapes how you should book. According to the Côte d'Azur France agenda of international events for 2026, the year is organized around major gatherings, and the dates that matter most for chauffeur planning are MIPIM in March, the Cannes Film Festival in May, the Monaco Grand Prix in early June, Cannes Lions in late June and MIPCOM in October. Tea Cannes Film Festival confirmed its 79th edition for 12 to 23 May 2026.
During these weeks, three things happen at once. Hotel check-ins bunch together, road closures and security perimeters appear around venues, and every professional vehicle in the region is committed. A multi-stop day that would be simple in February becomes a puzzle in the week of the Grand Prix.
Our advice is practical. Book as early as your own dates allow, and send the full itinerary, including venue names and the entrance you will use. We also recommend building in margin between a morning conference session and an evening reception, because the last kilometer to a venue in Cannes or Monaco can take longer than the previous twenty. If you are organizing for a group, our guide for event planners on chauffeured Riviera itineraries goes into multi-vehicle coordination, and our piece on how to schedule corporate rides covers the account side.
Our point of view
We have found that most failed multi-stop days fail for one of two reasons. Either the plan was too tight, or it was too vague. Both are cheap to fix at the booking stage and expensive to fix on the road.
On tightness: clients tend to plan the Riviera as though it were a grid. They allocate 30 minutes for a leg that is 30 minutes in the early morning, and then forget that the same leg at 6:00 p.m. during Cannes Lions is a different journey. We would rather you leave a gap that goes unused than losing a dinner reservation. A driver who arrives early at a venue is never a problem. A driver who arrives late is.
On vagueness: a vague plan is not flexible, it is merely unprepared. The driver who knows the villa's gate code, the restaurant's drop-off point and the name of the person receiving you at reception can take you from car to door without a pause. Our drivers are licensed VTC professionals, bilingual in English and French as a minimum, and some also speak Italian, Spanish, Russian or Arabic. That helps when a hotel porter, a yacht crew member and a restaurant host all need a clear word at the right moment.
We also believe a fixed price is a form of respect. When the number is confirmed at booking, you can spend your attention on the day, not on the meter. That is why all of our rates are fixed per vehicle, and why we do not apply surge pricing when the Riviera is full.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
The first is underestimating luggage. A Standard Sedan seats three, but three passengers with full suitcases is a different matter. If anyone joins midway, plan for the largest configuration, not the first one.
The second is leaving the return leg for later. Clients often book the outward half of a day and assume the evening will sort itself out. On a night when a gala or a race has just ended, it will not. Fix the final pick-up when you fix the rest.
The third is assuming a driver can wait anywhere. In France, professionals must return to a base or an authorized off-road parking location between pre-booked jobs, and airport zones are tightly controlled. A driver who is parked in the wrong place is a risk to you and to the booking. This is another reason to work with a provider who knows the access protocols and monitors your flight.
The fourth is changing the plan without telling anyone. Changes are normal, and a good driver welcomes them, but a new stop that adds 40 minutes affects every later leg. Tell the driver as soon as you know, ideally by message, and he or she will rework the sequence.
The fifth is overloading the day. Six stops are possible. Six stops with a long lunch and a sunset drive are not. If your list is ambitious, rank the stops so the driver knows which one to drop if the afternoon slips.

FAQ
How many stops can a multi-stop chauffeur itinerary include?
There is no fixed limit on a Riviera day, because the practical constraint is time, not the count. Four or five well-spaced stops usually fit comfortably within a full day, and the by-the-hour structure keeps the price transparent as the plan grows. Tell us your priorities so we can advise which stops to keep if the schedule tightens.
Is a multi-stop booking cheaper by route or by the hour?
For a simple airport-to-hotel journey with one extra stop, the fixed route rate usually works out better. For a day with meetings, long lunches or sightseeing, the hourly rate is more flexible and often more economical, at €60 to €90 per hour for a provision in 2026. We will quote both if you are unsure.
Can I add a stop on the day?
Yes, in most cases. Tell your driver as early as possible, since each addition affects the timing of later legs. Where the change is significant, such as a new destination in another town, we will confirm the adjustment with you before leaving.
Do I need to book a chauffeur in advance in France?
Yes. VTC services in France operate on prior reservation, and the French ministry's regulatory overview describes the framework behind it. During events such as the Cannes Film Festival, MIPIM or the Monaco Grand Prix, booking early is the only reliable way to secure a vehicle.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We monitor every airport transfer, so the driver adjusts the pick-up to your actual arrival time. Free waiting time of 60 minutes applies on airport pick-ups, and the rest of your itinerary is reworked around the new timing.
